My 400ex is pumping oil out crankcase breather. It had old piston and rings and i was told blow by was causing pressure in bottom end. New piston ring and bore and gaskets later, it is still doing it. It now has a 13:1 JE 426 piston in it, and I don't know what to look for. I am currently doing the 5 min idle, and then checking oil to see if i had too much oil.

So i did the 5 min idle, then check, and oil overflowed right out of the dipstick hole, when I took it out. I hope this was my problem all along even though it sounds stupid. I am going to drain the oil and replace the filter and only put 2 liters in. I have been putting around 2.5 because that's what i was told to put in.
2.5liters canadian? 2 canadian liters any different from 2 quarts or 2 us liters?

1.85 quarts with filter change.
I just did mine an hour ago.

do you need me to look in the manual for you for a metric oil capacity?
would be happy to go get it and look it up for you.

I found a conversion on the net. 1 quart equals 946ml which is what is sold here.
Can you measure the length of your dipstick from the o ring to the full line?
I'm running a 185s dipstick i had to cut down to make fit but i believe the length to the full line is the same

Ok just so you know..
after draining 1.8 liters
after draining with filter change1.85 liters
after disassembly2.2 liters

This is what the honda manual says. And a liter is a liter no matter where you are 1000ml=1liter

not sure if you needed this info just thought Id help.
