There are many discussions on the edelbrocks and most dont seem to like it. I had an FCR 39mm and thought it was a good carb. Never had any problems. You said you want a 400ex specific carb but really the best bang for your buck would really be the 450R carb. I see your a new member but if you look at this 400 forum for a little while you will see that there is nothing to it.

The most popular carb swap is to the 450r.

However, if you can wait a little while, Tri5ron is going to do a dyno comparison of the 450r carb vs 400ex carb.

the fcr is a popular upgrade from the old carb on 04-05 450r so that would lead me to believe the FCR is better. I put one on my predator and it was an awesome improvement. currently looking for a 39 for the 400

Ive got the Edelbrock 440 and I love it. When I bumped up my compression to 11:1 and put a stage 2 HC in it I adjusted the carb in about 10 minutes without removing it from the bike and without taking the carb apart to do it.
