You should to be able to get it re plated for less than $200. Here is a place that re plates them:

I didn't know KFX400's had plated cylinders.

It used to be that buying a new cylinder was cheaper than re-plating them but I'm sure prices have come down as it becomes more popular.

no, but you can bore it and put a sleeve in the cylinder. i prefer plated cylinders as they seem to last longer IMO

I've got 300+ hours on my '05 YFZ. All stock and still running like a champ.

As far as lasting longer, I think technically the plated cylinders would last longer because of less friction and heat absorption. It all comes down to how it was built, broke-in, and maintained.

Does what have to be plated? What are you working on? If you have a plated cylinder you can have it bored and put a sleeve in place or the other way around.

It either needs to be plated or have a sleeve put in place. Are you rebuilding the engine? If you're putting in a new piston and rings you should have it re-plated or buy a new cylinder if it's cheaper.
