Haha!
I spent $1800 on my pressure washer.
top of the line LANDA, (Parent company to Hotsie, and a few others)
It's a PC Series,13HP, 3500 psi @ 3.8 gpm. (4000 psi with the rotory tip).
it's the biggest, most powerful, highest gpm, (gpm rating is actually MORE important than the psi rating), that you can get in a direct drive, (I.e.- no belt driven pump).

if you want more power than that, you will need to go up to the belt driven models.
I cant imagine needing more power than that, due to it blows hardened concrete off of the chutes on my concrete trucks, and with the red tip, will cut a 2x4 in half in about 15-20 seconds. (it like a hydraulic a Laser beam !), (and can cut off your foot in a single pass)
and with the rotorary tip, it makes a 2x4 look like it just went through a chipper. literally turns it into toothpicks!

make sure you upgrade to the variable pressure wand and the stainless steel hose when you a playing with the bigger washers like mine. That way, yo can use the bleed-off handle to lower the tip pressure, for use on quads, cars, houses, etc.

stay away from the Home Depot "specials".
They may LOOK the same, but they have smaller, cheaper pumps,
(the heart and sole of any pressure washer), and after you've blown out 3 or 4 cheapo washers, you'll realize that you would have saved money by getting a industrial/professional one in the first place.
(ask me how I know this...)

and as I've said many times before....
A.A.D.S. knows NO Boundries !!!

do some real research on them before you buy, and you will be much happier, and ahead of the game.

check this link out, it has a "how to choose" section...
http://www.landa.com/ShowDynamicProductSeries.aspx

and yes, I do turn it WAAaaay down, and use the widest tip, and stay a good 5 feet back, for use on the quad.

I've had my Husky electric pressure washer for about 6 years now, happy with it. For washing the quads, I prefer the lower pressure electric washers for safety reasons. ;) Mine is rated at 1600 PSI, and does the job just fine.

I agree, the little electric ones are great for keeping water out of areas it shouldn't be!

I do have a gas powered 2300psi one, and it works excellent, but I know water got into my carrier bearings a few times in the axle. I am extra careful where I spray it now. Its a Home Depot job, but its got a Honda motor and it starts up in 2-3 pulls even after sitting ALL winter without any maintenance since we've bought it about 5 years ago, not even an oil change... terrible, but just how it works I guess.

I'll do you one cheaper.. I got a walmart gasser I paid 180.00 bucks for. 2200 p.s.i with a briggs motor, its small, light does a great job and I got lazy and have never touched the maintnenance on the thing. I've had for 3 yrs and it always fires up.

Yeah, the little electric ones do a great job for quads. Stay in the 1500-1800 range. You can actually blow dirt into your bearings and engine cases.

I had an electric one from walmart, something like 1300 psi. It did ok, lasted about three years but only paid 80 bucks for it.

Upgraded to a 2300psi craftsman with a briggs. Paid about 250 bucks, only last 13 months and the engine seized. Guess when my warranty ran up!?

Now I own a 1600psi electric one, gave a hundred bucks for it at walmart and it gets the job done.

I agree with most others on here. I got two pressure washers. A small electric on that came from Walmart. I have had this thing for several years and I only use it on the quads.
I got a larger gas powered unit with a turbo nozzle that I use for trailers and tractors.
Stay small with quad washing. Higher pressure will only damage seals and dust boots.

Honda is the only way to go. Mine is 10 years old
and starts on the second pull everytime.
Spend a little more for quality.IMO
