450r Or 400 Ex

I need help making a decision. I bought a new 2008 400ex: bike is stock, not happy with power. Not a little boy 5' 10" 250lbs. Not sure what to do. Thinkin about trading it in on a new 450r. What is you advice?

I was in the same boat as u back in 06.
I bought a brand new 05 400ex, rode it for 2 weeks and realized in stock forum they are slow as balls and have super crap suspension. lol
I traded it back in for a new 05 450r w/ HRC kit, best thing I ever did. Not only is the 450r much better even in stock forum it is a MUCH MUCH better foundation to built/mod with.
That was for my type and style of riding though, all depends what ur doing with it.

At your size, unless you like going fast, you need a utility. Some of the Utes will straight up haul balls, and handle good too. The problem with a 450 is that even though they have a ton more power than a 400, they don't like to go slow. Steep first gear and they don't putter around very well.

im 5'10" 240lbs and i ride an 06 450r with an HRC kit...its perfect. I dropped a tooth in the front for trail riding and I couldnt ask for a better machine. Ive owned a number of other ATVs (including a 2000 400ex) and this by far is the best. You dont have to have a utility just cause your healthy....unless you want one that is:D
