should be about a 3 mm shim to replace starter gear

Why does the gear need to be replaced? Can't just leave it as is?

no because then ur variator will slide to far back and wont be in line with rear pully. what i did was , lets see if i can make sense explaining this. i took the part of the gear that has the round holes in it, and cut the center out with a grinder. basicly cut through each hole till the center falls out so you have like a wassher left then round it off and it will look like a washer and then u have the perfect size shim. most do it with a plasma cutter but i had to improvise and do it with a grinder. hope this helps

yes if u have everything out and were putting it back together it would go short collar , 3 mm shim (cut the center out of #5 and u have pefrfect shim) , variator , longer collar , variator face plate , kick start gear , conical washer , then nut.

ok so 1, 2, 3 and 4 come out also correct?

ok...all makes sense now...what did you use for a plate to block the hole where the starter was?

09-01-2009, 07:54 PM
# 7 looks pretty happy in there...if I take it out I will have another hole to cover with some type of plate?

Some other vendors on here probably sell them but I bought a nice aliminum plate from Kool Kidz.
