How does that rear lock nut work. the one that pushes on the brake disc does that tighten up the bearings? and what way do you tighten it? in or out?

Dumb question but thanks anyway.

As you tighten the outside nut or move outwards toward your wheel it hits the retaining ring on your axle thus wedging the two parts the nut and the sleeve keeping it tight against the bearing carrier. The inner half of the nut is used to pinch up against the outer to keep it from moving back in or towards the carrier where as then it would be coming loose.

looking at the lock nut from the back of the four wheeler, you will want to move the inside nut towards the brake rotor.

LEFT HAND THREADS!

Once you move that nut towards the rotor, turn the other nut, again it has left hand threads on it too.

Once that nut is moved, you will see a small snap ring, remove the snap ring, grab the nuts, and they will slide right off the axle.

Be Sure to use lock-tite when you reassemble.
