you will have to rejet and do some fine tuning but it should be pretty close to a bolt on if it comes with a cylinder. i would suggest doing some port and polishing to it also to really open it up. it depends on what you want to do with it though. also a good hotcam to drop in would be pretty good. steve

it should be a very capable machine and have plenty of power for the trails. if it is jetted correctly you should not have any problems with overheating. steve

Yeah, I have a 1998 300ex bored and stroked out to a 350 with a big bore and stroker crank. Ported, polished, stage 2 hotcam, wiseco 11:1 piston, with a fulll white brothers pipe. The thing ****in rips it beats 400ex's (yes i know I couldn't believe it, it was a fair drag on pavement) I've never ridden a 300 faster than it. It's a beast in the trails too. I have a full prm skid plate with a prm bumper and a custom +6 wheelie bar and maier race cut plastics. It looks, feels, sounds, and runs amazing.

Whatever you put in it haha. It should take regular. Mine does with the BB and stroker crank.

if 11:1 you should be able to run 93, anything higher is race gas mix or straight. 10:1 you should be able to run a good 87 or 89. it all depends on the compression you want to go. the bigger the comp the more power you will have and the bigger cam you can run. steve

i have a stock 300ex motor, this winter i plan on getting the head ported, and putting a stock bore 11:1 piston in, and maybe a hot cam
theres a guy on ebay, $200 for a port job, and i think im going to have him hone my cylinder for a smooth stock bore
theres nothing wrong with my motor now, im pretty sure you have to have the cylinder honed when installing a new piston right?

i would do it if i was putting a new piston and rings it. it is the only way for the rings to seat right. steve
