Ive tried the C-clamp method and the taking the lock washers with the nut and screwing the nut down to force the ball joint in place. The c-clamp broke, and the nuts stripped. What else is there to do??? I'm stumped here.

Just grab about 5 normal washers and place them on the balljoint threads. Tighten the nut down as much as you can. Then remove the nut and the washers and your balljoint should be pressed in. Then just thread the nut back on like its suppose to be.

I did that and the nut stripped. I have the houser long travel a-arms on a 400ex. Is there suppost to be a gap there between the ball joint and the spindle?

There should not be a gap. Push the balljoint all the way into the spindle with your hand and apply pressure. I did mine like that.
If that fails, all I can say is get a new nut and try the washers again.

Get a 3/8" impact and a swivel for the socket, homie.
Sometimes you need to spint he nut really fast to get it down quickly.
