01 400ex cylinder head

working on a 01 and i need help..in the manual the ask to install a little spring and a plunger,,does any one know what that is for,,need help..

its very small and its located by the head bolt..

I would guess you are talking about the spring/plunger for the cam. If you are using the stock cam you need to put it back in. If you are using an aftermarket cam, its not needed.

this is the decompression valve, your machine wont start without it if you have the oringinal cam. Aftermarket cams dont need it.
