hey guys i'm doing my rebuild. i'm wanting some opinions on what piston to get. i'm either going to get wiseco 11:5:1. or JE 11:5:1. or also i may just go with the oem piston with stock compression.

its pointless to get a stock piston or even a 11:1 really, get a 12-12.5:1, you wont have a problem with premium pump gas with those compressions. i like CP or JE, the venom 12.25:1 is really nice, its a custom CP.

i'm looking for it to be really reliable over having tons of power. does it get harder to start the more compression you have? would i have to replace anything else if i went with high compression? thanx

No it doesn't get any harder to start using a higher comp piston, the auto decompressor makes that possible.
And no you won't have to replace anything else to go 12.5:1.

I agree go with the CP.

it wont really be less reliable with a higher comp piston, the hondas love compression and the cranks can take it. 12-12.5:1 will last a long time

this might be a dumb question, but what's the difference between the two you just listed? and stock comp is 10:5:1 right?

stock on the 04-05 is like 9.5 or 10:1 i think im not 100% whats the difference between what two? 12 and 12.5:1? 12.5:1 is a little higher compression, i just said them because some companies offer 12 and some have 12.5

I believe stock 04/05 bikes are 11.2:1 factory. I put a JE 11.5:1 in mine and didn't notice one difference. I did mine mostly for maintenance at the time. My JE held up for a while, but I did have a circlip fall off and do about $1000 worth of motor damage.

It wasn't pretty, but I dont think I can blame the Piston manufacturer for it either, these things happen.

I've also used Wiseco and CP.

Just put a CP in the wifes 06 and was impressed, good power gains and the skirt was a bit longer and wider than the JE we normally use.

do you have an opinion on wiseco? have you had good experieces with JE in the past? thanx

I prefer the porosity of the CP to be superior. The CP and JE is better at oil retention across its surface....

good luck with your rebuild.
