Here is the problem Checked compression and it was low put new piston rings and cylnder on and it is still reading about 90psi on compression. changed crank seals and still the same what could cause this checked for intake leaks found none. What else could it be. And also what way is the arrow on the piston pointing the one i took off was pointing down and i put it back the same way. The quad is a 06 50 air cooled Trying to get it right before race tomarrow always something at last min

Check reeds. If one is cracked or broken you will get
a low compresion reading.

I would check the compression with another gauge. I always check it with 2 different gauges. Also is it a screw on type or do yuo have to hold it on there.

Also if you don't have another gauge check another motor like the lawnmower or something with that gauge, the quad should be higher.

Checked squish and it it 61 thousands is that what would make the compression low. Cant figure out what else to check any othe sugestions? Thanks

That would be a problem if you measured it correctly. How many
base gaskets or what is the thickness of your base gasket?
Squish should be about a third of that 61 thousands

do what jerkyboy suggested and check your reeds - my drr had same problem - found out friday there was a huge chunk of one of the reeds missing and the other one was already cracked.

New reeds in - runs like new!
