Just like the title says, can bad reeds cause low compression?

I'm actually trying to help out a friend on his banshee. And one cylinder has about 90, the other has 65. :eek2: I know not good.

Know were just trying to figure what the next step will be. Send out cylinders for bore & hone and new pistons, or just hone, new rings and see how that does.

thanks
Russell

Nope the reeds don't affect compression. I'd bore and hone with new pistons. Pretty easy to do I've done it twice. That is very low compression by the way, I think at 100 it is pretty hard just to get running.

thats how I found out it had such low compression, wouldn't run or start.

sounds like the motor is wore out. a banshee with a fresh top end should have about 120-130psi per side. unless it has motor work then maybe 150.
