A while back there was a link on here to download a full manual as a pdf. I tried searching but cannot locate it. Could who ever posted that re-post it or, e-mail me the link if you like.

I have used sendspace before for files with no problems. I can assure you the pdf file is the same as all the others on this site. There is no virus contained in it. I am on a Mac so there is no chance anything extra was attached to the file.
Maybe your virus protection was blocking an ad or something. Try using firefox with adblock plus plugin.

i am pretty sure have tried that one before. isn't it the 99-02 version? anyone know where a newer one is?

It is actually a 99-04 manual but everything will be the same on the newer ones except reverse.
I have a 2005-2009 factory manual I will have to try to take some time to scan it in to my computer.
