I have an 01 400ex and was wondering if 450r plastic would work or newer 400ex plastic, no light, i want the hood look.

the newer 05 and up 400ex plastic will you will have to bend you mounts to fit or make new ones

450r plastic will fit i think, one guy did it, looked weird tho, just dont fit the frame wright, 05 and up 400ex plastic will basically bolt right on, just need the new mount that holds the 2 fenders apart, and all of the old mounts will work just fine, no bending required........

It was slim_shawn who did the 450r plastic swap. I remember it actually coming out pretty good other then the frame being exposed ever so slightly in the front.

Anyone else think that 450r plastic on a 400ex is pointless? I mean what's the point? If you want a 450 get one otherwise you end up looking like a poser.

ya his dont look to bad, not worth the hassle tho, zip ties here and there are kinda sketchy. just buy the 05 plastics or get a 450...

yeah im gonna go with 05+ 400ex plastic. trxrider maybe im poor and like the looks of a 450r and have a 400ex, and dont feel like buying a 450r just for the looks. thanks though. Anybody got any 05+ plastic for sale, i have silver maier race plastic on it now in good shape.

If you're cool with that don't let people like me tell you any different. It's still your ride and your style, run with it if that's what you want. :ermm:

No, that is not considered a poser.

Explain to me how that is being a poser? I completely understand it. He likes the looks of the 450r, and maybe he likes the feel of the seat/ergos? Maybe he doesn't have the money to buy a 450r?

It's no different then a guy putting aftermarket plastics on their quad. They do it because they like the looks. If this guy wants to do the 450r swap, leave him be. I see nothing wrong with that.

Exactly the point I was getting at.

Screw politcally correct, it's the damn right truth lol. If I was politcally correct I wouldn't be racist and I wouldn't hate homosexuals, but guess what I do. lol.

450r plastics isn't being a poser. I consider it being an upgrade because I like the ergo's of the 450r seat/tank better.:D

Sorry but something ain't right if you think swapping in shocks is the same as making your machine look like something it's not. I'm baffled that I would even have to explain this to someone. I mean custom is one thing, trying to look like something it's not is another.

Damn I must be getting old because last I knew when you change something to look like something else they used to call that posing. My bad boys....... haha!

For me I am looking to do this...not for the looks but after I rode a 450r this weekend I loved the ability to lean much farther off the seat instead of just sitting on the fenders....

Seems the 400ex plastics are too far forward compared to the 450r....
