What do you guys have on your quad thats homemade or not factory that makes it distinguishable out of 10 other 250r's?

ive got a outerwears rubber cemented to the airbox lid with the top cut out for the dunes. My exhaust silencer is cut down to the length of a fmf shorty silencer. I have a homemade shifter thats longer and stays out of the way my boots when racing.

What you guys got? (Pics please)

1 of a kind custom built frame, a-arms, swingarm and stem, airbox and radiator shrouds. Will be getting custom made seat, radiator, graphics and possibly a pipe down the road. - SEE sig for pics.

Trying to design a custom kick starter that folds in half - but that one is taking some thinking.

I have stainless braided radiator hoses- I love them but hardly ever see them on other 250r's.

I use the breather tube and valve off automotive automatic transmissions for the bottom end. Also got a custom flag mount and tail light mount on my Lobo since the subframe has provisions for neither.

Polished some pieces on my own: Rear brake caliper, radiator, engine side covers, and working on the cylinder right now...

250Renvy,

Did you build your own frame and parts? Let's see custom parts and ideas that were homemade. Anyone can buy parts....

Does it make a difference? It was my idea, it's not like someone else had it built and I bought it. How many people actually have the equipment and know how to build their own frame - and I'm not talking about the backyard conversions that have bubblegum welding on them.

Custom 401cc big bore powervalve engine I built myself. Many home made items to make this work but I love the power. I have a Bridgeport milling machine and Atlas lathe in my basement for projects.

Dura Blue swing arm that's been following me around for about 16 yrs. moved to my TRX from my ATC, It's the only one I've ever seen oddly enough although I'm sure there are more out there.

Raised subframe and body. All ergonomics adjusted to 450R specs.

thats a neat design and would defeneatly keep the sand and water out of the crankcase. I might have to try that.

thats the same concept as the design i have but mine is a little more elaberate. it involves tieing the gas vent hose into the system aswell. ofcourse in most riding situations isnt needed but i ride "extreme" wet conditions.

What makes mine different? On my '03 Lonestar, which is my most frequently ridden, there's a few things.

-450R front brake calipers, spindles, and hubs.
-450R rear brake system.
-450R rear fender braces, to support the rear fenders in muddy races.
-Magura hydraulic clutch.
-Homemade rear seat latch.
-The MSR mudguards on the bars that stay on year-round.
-Homemade top bar clamp to mount the kill switch.
-Stock pipe on a full aftermarket chassis quad.

my front rack. i built/modified this to bolt to my rpm bumper. i use it to carry extra gas into the woods. had to do something because of the fuel consuption compared to a 4 stroke. used it my last trip to hatfield mccoy. this one is made out of steel. only a prototype. the next is going to be made out of aluminum

Did you ever get your custom frame home and finish it? I would like to see pics of the product. Sounded like a great one off.

I have to ask, why would you run 450R spindles on your 250R? They have total different steering geometry.
