After buying a 400ex and test driving it i desided it was a nice bike but couldnt hit the speeds i was looking for so i sold my 400ex and got a 660 raptor so im going to pick it up wensday and try it out.

I'm not sure a 660 is that much faster stock to stock, but good luck. I just think u'll want ur Honda back.

Everyone is selling there 400ex. :(

I am still debating on selling mine to get the KFX450R, but one owner said he had a 400 and liked it just as much as his 450R.

Whenever someone sells that means someone else buys. :D

bye bye hundy:( sorry for your loss and sorry for your purchase. lol the only thing you will have going for you is a bit faster speed wise the rest i think you will be happy with. make sure the gears are alright too some years were prone to breaking and locking up the tranny. steve

You made a mistake.

Raptor 660's are NOT much faster then the 400ex's at all. The only real difference it torque. The 660's have a lot of low-end grunt. Makes for a real wheelie machine.

The engine's on them also aren't very great. 01's and 02's were known for grenading transmissions. Plus all years are known for the starter clutches going bad and such.

And 660's are VERY top heavy.

The only thing I like about them is the engine, but even then they aren't that dramatic of a difference over the 400ex.

If you want speed, look for a 450 or banshee.

Which 450?

wow, you will not be happy with ur decision.

True but it seems like we are losing alot of members on this site. It just seems slow nowdays, when I first joined seemed like there was alot going on but now it is just a couple of main guys or something. haha

My stock 400 was only hitting 59 mph, My 660 with gearing only hits 85 and it rides alot better.

my old 400ex, geared for bottom end, did 73 mph on a gps. If I geared it I for sure would be over 80. Not only that, the raptor handles like total dog crap.

Im noy buying that big of a difference in mph no way! Unless you had some crazy gearing on that 660 and it took you a half hour to get to that speed. My buddies raptor does seem more plush of a ride but I hate how tall it is. The roll on it is terrible. He has stock gearing I had 14/38 on my 400. I had full exhaust he has a yosh slip on. Both KN's. He was using stock tires. I had 18 rears and 20 fronts. He had me by about 3 bike lengths. We have not raced now that I have a 416 with cam and such. Im thinking its going to be a different story!

Totally stupid move, unless all you do is wide open trails and drag race. The raptors run awesome, but as far as a trail bike the ex is unbeatable in my opinion. I had an 03 660 and my ex for a while, and in drag race I only got beat by 3 bike lengths or so. You'll want the Honda back after a few times out. " Just my opinion "

My raptor has a lowering kit on it already and with the new steering stem, stabalizer, a-arms, and rear axle it will handle just fine. I mostly do dune riding and i wanted the torque so i could go with more paddles on my tires. It seems ill have to prove my 660 vs a ex lol. My buddy has a 400ex aswell so ill do a few test and see, speed, take off, handling, trial riding, steering, and over all comfort. Results coming soon!!

I had a 660 and really liked it. Filters and a pipe and its a different bike. IS there any way you could make you sig any longer?...its like half a page

08-25-2009, 01:32 PM
Yeah dude the sig is HUGE. Please make it smaller. No one cares what you plan on ordering, just put what it has at the moment. lol.

Its my order list, i order a few things every week. Instead of tearing it apart and redoing it alittle at a time i order everything then i rebuild it.I already have all the tires, rims, throttle, and exhaust

08-26-2009, 06:58 AM
I don't care what list it is. Copy it and paste it on Microsoft Word if you have to. But it's rediculously long.

How often are you on a trail or in a place where you can hit 85?
