Running out of tricks, tried heating, pounding w/ hammer, etc.. Working on a friends '06 450ER, having a heck of a time getting the outer lock nut loose, inner one was done by him fine, outer one won't budge. They both spin the same way to get loose, correct. I know they're both left handed threads, so if you're behind the quad, you would be turning the wrench down, correct? Any advice appreciated, soon thinking we'll have to get it cut off.

ya, i would just cut it off and get a new one. i had to do that on a hub nut, the nut would come of with a 6ft cheater bar, and the other one i loosened with my hands.

Same problem here; bout to take mine to the stealership. Had the wife sitting on the bike with it in gear; both brakes applied and I was STANDING on the pipe wrench yet the nut never moved.

You're wasting your time beating it with a hammer. You need constant pressure to break it loose. Soak it with penetrating oil, and use a longer pipe on the wrench. With enough leverage, it will move eventually.

your standing on the axle nut?!?!:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

dude your tightening it!!! if your behind the quad, you need to lift up on the wrench! its a left hand thread so its opposite of a normal thread! standing or turning to left tightens and lifting or turning to right loosens it.

now wonder it aint goin :D lol i made the same mistake too a few weeks ago

If you are standing behing the quad - up to tighten, down to loosen.
