i recently built a hybrid using a 400ex frame and an xr650r engine and i am using a mikuni tm40 carb. i ride mostly dunes here in oregon, so elevation is around sea level. im just looking for a good starting spot with my jetting that i could work from. i hope you guys can help me, and if not maybe point me in the right direction

Hey sorry, I don't have any jetting recommendations for you, but I'm anxious to see some pics and hear how that swap is working out for you.

If I ever did a hybrid or swap, it would be a 250/450R/400ex frame and XR650R engine. I heard they are bulletproof torque monster motors that can be really built well.

Good luck!!

im practically done with it as we speak. besides my carb, i have like 2 or 3 other small things to do, and it'll be finished. i dont have any like quad of the month style photos, but in the hybrid forum, i have some shots from this years dunefest that have it in the background or of me riding it. it IS the "torquiest" thing i have ever ridden. i could take off in 3rd, and lug up any hill in front of me. where i was there is a 500 foot dune and this thing rode up it like i was on flat ground. kind of a pain to build though. but that was probably because i went custom or aftermarket for EVERY piece. if you think aftermarket never fits right, try putting it on another aftermarket piece:mad:
the only piece that fit: shifter lol

There's a few on Thumpertalk running TM40's on their 650r's. A search of the XR650R sub-forum should get you to a starting point.
