Wow its been years sense I have posted here, and holy cow how the site has grown!! Good to see everyone here and that the site is doing so well!!

Now to the subject. A couple friends of mine and me decided to do the unthinkable up here in Alaska...and that is put a Bandit 1200 motor in a banshee frame. It took a lot of fabrication, and once up and running it was a blast to ride...but still not enough. So we got our hands on a Audi T4 turbo...and decided it was just right to go on our build.

After many late hours in the shed, lots of head scratching and fabing we got it up and running. Its not 100%...but holy **** does it haul ***.

The main reason I posted this thread is the main problem we are having right now is tires. Anyone out there know of a tire/rim combo we could run that is capable of speeds 140+??

I know this sounds crazy, but we do plan on entering it in the drag races next summer. I have some pictures of when we had it all together. Then tore it completly down about 2 months ago for powdercoating, and just now its slowly but surley coming back together. Any input would be awesome!!

Thanks guys & gals -Nick-

looking good :eek2:
just curious... why did you choose to build it off a banshee chassis?

Really long, and easy to modify frame. Also +12 swingarms are readily available haha.

I love they way you cut the front fenders! Might look into doing that.

The whole build was designed to be as cheap as possible, we had a banshee with no motor and a wrecked bandit. Seems to be a simple enough decision.

that makes perfect sense then. I figured that you already had the banshee lying around.

Your best bet for finding a tire to hold those speeds will likely be buying a set of small car wheels, and a set of car radials for the rear... It would be heavy, but much safer than trying to run those speeds on any quad tire.

Which 450?

lol 15psi is high? I guess for a quad it would be. We're not running that much though. I believe its around the 7psi range. All I know is its a thrill to ride!! Hopefully we'll get some more done this week and I'll get some pictures up for you guys. Maybe even a movie once we get it up and running...

I dont have one, I just know that 35 is ALOT of pressure for a motorcycle engine!!! LOL would be wicked to try though.

35psi is a lot for any engine I think (other than a diesel, I don't really know much about them so I can't comment on them).

My STI runs at 8psi..stock turbo & tune still.

with stock head gaskets and head bolts, a 24v cummins can handle up to about 45 psi....if you go much over that your gonna have to run after market head gasket and stud bolts, and it would probably be best to fire ring, and all that fancy ****...

some engines are differnt tho...some are gonna handle more adn some less....

Yeah I figured that diesel engines would be able to handle a lot of pressure. 45 is ridiculous haha.

I'm only really familiar with turbos in the Subaru and Nissan worlds.

wow I almost forgot alllll about this thread. Well the bike is still in pieces after years lol. Frame is powder coated, and its put back together as far as a rolling chassis but thats it..

And sorry man, if your STI only runs 8lbs of boost, you have a serious problem. My '02 WRX with a VF39 and supporting mods is at 18-20...
