Just been feeling the need for a good debate here lately.. Lol and this way I won't have to use another thread, my bad on the hijack or derailment of that other thread.. Oops

So what shall we do?
Power chokes?
Diesel engines in general?
Or what ever you can think of?
Hopefully something good and hopefully this doesn't end up too dumb, lol cause it might already be there! Lol

This thread is not going to last...sorry but not needed here in the ATV forums. Just a heads up.

Then what's the point of having an open forum?

I am not a mod or anything but I have seen alot of threads over the years get closed because of people taking them too far. Threads like this gets out of hand quickly, not saying this one will but, I am just letting you guys know from past experiences.

hell i'll get in on this, i think we should discuss the ups and downs on all the diesel engines. it'll be informative for a lot of the guys on here who want to know more about their truck and what they can/should do to make it better and it'll help out a lot of guys looking to buy a diesel.

Alright, lets argue :p I am not going to get upset because you don't like a certain brand.

First off... What is it you have against Ford?

Ill discuss diesel engines with a fellow diesel guy. Not a small gas engine owner   . Ive showed my diesel in the other forum. 450hp power "choke". It has pulled a couple local GOATS (dodge ram ) backwards. But my sled puller is my 800HP D-max......Diesel runs in my blood. Our newest Project pictured below. We have over 30 internationals total.

now blacknblue i'm figuring you know your way around a diesel pretty good, i know what i've read about each engine and what little experience i've had with the powerstroke and dmax. what is so different that makes a dmax so easy to get power out of? and i've heard allison this allison that but if i'm not mistaken those transmissions are good for much more than stock power? i want to do a custom build in an older f250 and i'm undecided on which motor/tranny combo to use just know that i want to go diesel for sure.

J_cyrus... How old are you? Sorry to be off topic. Just always wondered that. Anyway, I'm a Chevy man, but Jake's Ford is SHARP!

Ups and downs of diesels... Maintenance costs, repair costs, incredible torque and pulling power, overall cost, motor longevity...

I wanted to get a new 09 powerstroke but they wanted about 10+gs more so I settled for a little 5.4 f250 until Ford comes out with the "scorpion" :D

And I work at a kenworth dealership and will have a college degree on Friday for kenworth total work exp about four years...

OK im a Ford guy but i do have an educated opinion....

first the cumapart has an amazing motor, the dmax is an amazing platform for unleashing horsepower

but.... raggin on the 6.4, come on its not that bad. When they first came out they had problems but Ford has finally gotten the kinks out and its an amazing innovating motor.

Dont get me wrong, the 6.0 was a dissapointment to the diesel community, that motor was nothing but a nightmare with fried pistons due to the injectors failing, computer problems, ect.... The 7.3 was a solid motor but the 6.4 is just up there now a days.

And if you wanna kno my view on vehicles i completely and utterly hate Chevy's but i can apperciate all drivetrain platforms

I've never owned a diesel but from what I've read the Cummins is #1 but the dodge isn't... If I could have it my way I would have a Cummins backed by an Allison all in a '08 Superduty. And I'm a Chevy guy. :p

People have been wishing for that truck for a long time. Ford interiors are top notch, cummins are impressive and have the name, and the allison is also top of the line.

I hate the interiors on the newer fords, they just seem really cheap to me..but thats just my opinon.

I'm a fan of ford, chevy, and dodge. If I had a choice I'd go with a cummins with a 6 speed in it.

First things first, some of you guys have too much time on your hands. Second, I'd be willing to bet half of the people voicing their opinions have never owned, nor driven the these trucks.

With that being said, here's my input on the situation.

Ford: The 7.3 was an awesome motor, probably one of my favorites. We never had a problem with ours. Never missed a beat and she was a power house. I was kinda sad to see that truck go. The 6.0's, there's no way of hiding that they had problems. Early generation 6.0's were garbage. Injector issues, turbo issues, computer issues, etc. The newer 6.0's seem promising. Haven't heard as many bad things about them. The 6.4's. So far so good.

Chevy: I'll be the first to tell you we don't have any chevy products in our family, but I did drive a buddy's duramax to go get a race trailer. I will say that truck is damn nice, and I'm a ford guy. Torque monster and it drives nice. I actually wouldn't mind having one.

Dodge: By far the best motor out of the three. We owned an 04 2500 and an 06 I believe. Motor's were monsters. I loved driving that truck. Now the issues we had with dodges were everything but the motor's. We had hardcore brake issues with both our 04 and the 06, Electrical issues with the 04, fueling issues with the 06, and the list goes on and on. When someone asks me if I owned a dodge, I say no, I owned a cummin's. That was the only thing I liked about those trucks.

Take it for what it's worth.
