I'm completely rebuilding my motor. I'm going to put the stock cylinder back on, but at some point in the future I may step up to some large bore cylinder.
Can I have the cases machined for big bore, but put the stock cylinder back on?
Who can do the case machining?
thanks in advance,
D

yes
find a local machine shop, use a die grinder and do it yourself, or you can send them out to be machined

M&M ATV does case machining. Andy and those guys are really good guys, and will help you out any way they can.

people on here have used a grinder before, it's just clearance. you need to know the OD of the sleeve before you start machining or grinding though:eek:

quite honestly i'd wait until the time comes to mod the cases for the b/b.

So its pretty much matching the cylinder to the cases? I was just thinking since I have it all apart and am sending the cases to be painted, may as well have it prepped for big bore so when I do finally get a large cylinder I just have to plop the new cylinder on versus tearing it all down again (has taken me months at my slow work pace)

understand where your coming from in your thinking but it would be hard for me to run the current setup awhile and then later add more power/bigger cylinder to a somewhat tired/used crank and bearings. me personally i would be pulling it down and going with a fresh crank with the fresh larger cylinder. see what i'm saying?

/\ Agreed. If you plan on riding your current setup for awhile, it
would be wise to fresh'in up the bottom end to handle the
big bore. :ermm:
