hey everyone, new to the forum, cant wait for all your helpful info and tips, theres some sweet bikes on here, im just getting back into my 250r's. i have had a few years ago and just bought 2 complete bike and 1 in boxes all within the last 6 months, sold most of the parts bike and got another almost done and when i sell it i want to do up my 88, but i am interested in the fastest motor you can build without spending a ton of money and without going huge on displacement, my past 88 was ported by a private guy that knows his stuff he builds motors for pro riders, but with his porting a 39 carb, k&n, rad valve, and pt hi-rev at about 190lbs . i run a 7.8 at 67 mph in 500' in full trail trim. the best my buddy could do on a ct 330 was a 8.1 but it was torqey *** hell,we are racing in dirt not sand i live in pa and sand is hard to find. but anyways i like speed top end im only 165lbs so i like a fast hi-reving motor, what should i do stick with a 250 or go to a 265 with the spacer plate or295 310 350 400stroker HA???????? help. i really dont want to get my cases cut either, i liked beating banchee's and 450s with the stock 250 cc bore if you know what i mean. but i am open to anything, lets here some of your ideas and what worked for you, so i can go out run the lt250r that has been winning it all for years, when its not broke down. also i thought i should let you know i do trail ride my bike a little so i am not building a deticated drag machine, thanks a lot

I ran a 265 Powervalve, and I blew the doors off of most of 4-strokes on the straights.. You can find all kinds of cylinder deals on ebay and on these forums..

I would go with a 275 PV, or a 310 PV from ESR, but have someone else do the port work.

My buddy had a 275 PV done by Duncan, and it flat out walked away from the 265 PV with with just the added 10cc

I had a TC 265 non-PV, GT Thunder 265 non PV, Duncan 275 Hyperdyne non-PV, CT 265 PV, and a CT330.

The 330 was a monster and was awesome on open tracks.

The 265 PV was my favorite, then the 275.

Here's a few to look into...

Whatever setup you go with, definitely go with an OEM '89 crank with an '86 style (Wiseco) piston/spacer plate set up, Hinson basket at minimum.

V-force reeds always worked well for me with a 1/4" spacer, and a 38mm Airstryker carb or 39mm PWK

Sparks MX or TT pipe (depending on what motor, I ran a TT pipe on my bigger engines/PV motor)

I heard Neil from C-Leigh Racing does some pretty sick port work.

Good luck, let us know what you decide to go with.

BTW that was from an MX point of view.
