i have a yz426f motor in my hybrid but its worn out and i found a yz400f motor for a descent price, will the yz400 motor bolt up the same as the 426? and is there a significant power loss or does the yz400 motor pull?
Thanks alot

The engines bolt up exactly the same. They use the same cases. Only differences are, rod, piston, cylinder, gear ratio and center clutch hub. There is a difference in power but the 400 is still a strong motor. You can turn it into a 426 by putting a 426 rod piston and cylinder on it later if you wanted.

i'm prolly gunna end up building 2 motors, one for freeride and one for racing, i'm gunna ride a stock motor for freeride then get one built for racing, and also is the carb and header and oil lines the same?

The carbs are fcr's but the 400 uses a down draft (older style) and the 426 is stand up but they are both 39mm fcr's. The 400 head has the hotstart port built into the intake so if you use a newer carb you need to block it. But the parts are interchangeable otherwise. The headers also bolt up. You can bolt up a yfz or yzf header through at least 05 probably through 08 they all fit the head. hope this helps
