so i am trying to get my ride hieght right for mx (7"1/4-7"3/4) but with my elka rear shock the thing has no preload and it still sits at about 8 to 8 1/2 inches i have the regular float on the front and my front isa just fine but the back wont get any lower. any tips?

its a 300ex so no linkage:( i dont know what to do and i see eveyone at the track with there 300s way lower then mine. i dont get it:confused:

Sounds like the shock is setup incorrectly, and is too long. Have you measured the race sag?

Not preload adjustable? Sounds like a weird shock to me. But here is a site to hopefully help ya figure it all out. Make sure and read it all!!! Even if some of it don't apply to you, it will be nice to know for future reference!

I think he means he has ran out of preload adjustment.

its wound all the way up on the preload so there isnt any preload left to use.


race sag? do you mean meeasure it when im sitting on the quad or what? im kinda new to setting up suspension for mx.

pretty sure sag is how much the atv compresses the shock with out you on it. So lift it up till theres no travel then let it go and see how far it goes down. I could be wrong but i think thats it.

the gtthunder site has lots of good suspension set up info on it

Race sag is the difference between the suspension fully unloaded (wheels in air), and when you are on it with full gear on. You want to measure between the axle, and a point on the subframe.
