overheating..

i went rideing at a friends small mx track yesterday and i noticed the fan was coming on quite often. then i kept riding and it started to bog down an it died. i could see the oil bubling through the sight glass. i waited a little bit for it to cool down and it ran just fine after that. is there some kind of safety device that shuts it off if it gets too got? i didn't hit the rev limiter once so i know i'm not being to hard on it. and my coolant is full. any help?

What kind of oil you running? Did the oil have any water in it or look milky? Sounds like the motor may have been seizing up. jmo

I guess instead of what kind, I should ask if it had plenty of oil in it and if it is burning much as brand probably won't matter much in this issue.

i haven't done an oil change since the previus owner, but i've only rode it once. it has plenty of oil though. i guess i'll change the oil an see if it still does it? i was thinking my main jet may ne a tad to small, and it getting really hot. but like i said it runs just fine.

I always see my oil bubbling in the sight glass. If its running.

okay good that makes me worry less. it doesn't do it if it isn't running. still don't know why it was cutting out an backfiring untill it got cool/..

I see all my buddy's 450's bubbling a lil.
