11-20-2001, 08:11 PM
i do mostly trail riding and mud but i love to go fast around turns and stuff like that i was thinking the maxxis razors or the holeshot xct what should i get in the poll i put other sport tires as well or if they arent there just tell me whatu think i should get:D :devil

i have holeshot xc's on my blaster and i love them, i wouldnt get XCT unless you want big tires cuz they only come in 22". ITP has a new tire called the XCR which has the same tread pattern as the XCT but in 20". my friend has razors on his 92 quadracer and they wore half the tread off in a few weeks. i have had my XC's for several months and i have about 50% tread still on them. the XC's, XCT and XCR are good in all conditions because they are meant for cross country. it all depends on what size you want on which tire you choose.

Put my vote in for 18" tamers.

the only reason i didnt put those is because they are pretty much for hard pack only i ride a lot of snow and mud plus if i got them i would get 20 " because i dont want to sacrifice a lot of ground clearance and my quad is a 250ex so i think since it already doesnt have the greatest top end power the 18s would change the gear ratio to much

why not a bigger tire? put a 14t on and get bigger tires so you have better ground clearance. My stockers have lasted me 2 years now, just geting to the wear bars on the rears, and the center lugs are about half gone up front.

My riding year is about 4 months up here

He has a 250ex, so he can't change the ratio via sprokets

my quad is shaft driven a sprocket cant be changed

unless you are going through DEEP mud, turf tamers would suit you fine. none of the above tires will be good deep mud tires.

be careful buying a tire with hard sidewalls. your 250EX depends alot on the soft tires for part of the suspension action.

i go in mud that is about 3 maybe 4 feet deep sometimes:devil

3-4 feet deep? so the quad is under water? 4 feet is 48 inches, that is 4 tires stacked on top of eachother...

I had Holeshot XCT on my Mojave and they worked really well for the mud I went through. The only downsides are that they are hard to mount on the rims and they are heavy.

maxxis Razr's are considered a mud tire???????? and there is no tire out there that will fill every catergory!!! And I've never seen the XCT's on a mx track!!!!!!!

The only way you're going to figure out what tire works best for you is to try them. Everyone has a favorite, and a million reasons why, but that doesn't mean you'll like it. A 250ex isn't going to spin a 22inch XCT like a built 400ex will, so what works great for them might not for you.
If you've got a quad and are on here, you've probably read the magazines and seen the tire shootouts, so you know how all the tires are rated. You'll have to pick the ones you think you like and give them a try. That's why there are parts for sale in the calssifieds, you try it, you hate it, you sell it and try something else.
So if you decied to sell a new set of XCT's cheap, let me know... :devil

maxxis all-traks work the best in mud, snow, loose stuff, hardpack, etc. their only flaw is,with them being taller(22")and having a beefy tread design, they do not work well for fast cornering at the track.
