Found an 86 250r for sale by me. Seller is asking $1750 for it, but will come down in price (is negotiable). Its mostly stock, except the exhaust (no idea what make) Needs at least new tie rods (says they have play). He needs to sell it but is not going to "give it away". What would you guys value it at / offer / pay? I already have 1 250r ('89) that I am in the process of tearing down and building up... just figured another could be for knocking around...

go ride it go through all the gears and check if the kick start is worn out
if it clicks when kicking it over or when retracting its good low hours
is it a stock bore are the fins on the radiator bent take the bike and shake it side to side listen for some clunking check the front bearings by lifting the front of bike off the ground and shake the tire does it move if so bad bearings

check the frame for cracks around the foot peg area and around the motor mounts

if all good i would say around 1300

but start low with your price and see what he willing to take

and think what you could do with the money on your other 250r

just fyi....

i looked at that bike over a month ago. the pegs are twisted, the chain broke off before, it needs new tierods, exhaust is falling off/rotted.

he was asking 1800. i told him hes nuts offered 1000..he said i was nuts "its a 250r"......went up to 1200, he said 1500 and i walked....he later called me and said he will do 1300 and i said no. i have the email if you want to use it as a barganing chip.

there are too many deals out there to buy a pos....just my opinion

good luck

Yeah I am going to hold off after looking it over and thinking about it. There is one that is nicer out in pa that's listed for $1700. Seller is firm on the price at the moment but who knows with time. Worst thing that happens is I just put the money into my 89 sooner lol.

1200.00 is the most i'd give for it provided it ran ok and all the bearing were tight. as mentioned it's ruff as a cob and its missing a few things.
