these things turned 8500 RPM!

These bikes were pretty hot in the mid to late '70s (yeah,... I remember when they were new !)

cool find,
my dad used to race rd400's back when he was in college and before he us kids. there are several rd400 chassis in our garage because he kept needing the engines for his race bike. A couple years ago we had started restoring a 1979 RD400 Daytona Special that he bought many years ago(not for the racing or parts), but after we got it mostly tore down and had the frame powdercoated I started racing motocross. It is still in pieces in the basement, but racing motocross and rebuilding yfz's has gotten in the way in both the time and financial aspects

thats a clean build, trikes are safe, its the riders who werent, dirtbikes are more unstable than 3 wheelers lol , people just didnt respect trikes

He said the motor is worth 2 grand alone? If that's the case, I have a couple of similar motors that could be taken off my hands, and I don't want nearly that much for them.
