Thinking of getting a longer swinger for mx. I was wondering if you have to rework the front shocks as well as the rear shock when installing an aftermarket swinger? My front shocks are like brand new. Thanks :macho

nothin more than a few minuts adjusting on the fronts they dont need to be valved or anything.

longer for mx? wouldnt that be backwards, longer swingers are for drag racers, hill climbers and people who worry about flipping backwards on hard excell, in mx wouldnt that make your ballance and landing and stuff way off, id think it would buck up the rear to make it longer for jumps, if you could gain shock travel it would be to your advantage, but i dont see how thats gonna help you.

I have +1 forward arms with a stock length swingarm right now. I want to get a longer swinger to get the weight bias correct.

bigbad400- alot of people that ride mx get extended swingarms its only usually +1 1/4 but it makes a noticable difference on stability

Might as well match your arms with the right swinger.

yz450hybrid also has a Roll swinger for sale for $625 if interested.

I love my +1 1/4 swinger. It handles much better and tames the front end just enough to make it easier to ride fast without killing the 'wheelie' balance point and fun factor.

That's the one i'm buying lol ;) :D

It is a +1.5" Roll.

So all I have to do is revalve the rear shock to match the extended swinger right?

Have the rear shock revalved and buy a chain that is 4-5 links longer and you'll be set.

I knew it!! I know you can't resist Roll either especially at a good price;)

But do what wheelie said and you'll be good.

lol, sure can't :p

Should I add links to my current chain or buy a new one altogether?

I'd just buy a new chain but thats just me, but it depends how long you had your previous one?

It's a couple years old, but doesn't have much ride time. It's a nice DID gold X-ring chain. I may just get a new one to make things easy.

I forget how many links it has, but it fits fine with the stock swinger and 16/39 gearing.

Recently I tried to fit 16/40 (stock swinger) and the chain refused to go on.

With the +1.5 swinger and the bigger 16/40 setup, do you think 5 extra links from what I have now will be enough or should I go with 6 links? Is there some type of calculator out there to help me find the right amount I need?

Thanks! :macho

I run stock gearing and stock chain links with my +1.25 swinger so I would think that 6 would be plenty.

Stock EX chain is 94 links.

FYI--My chain is 96 links with 14/36 gearing and it's just long enough. Next time I buy a chain, I'm going with 97 links.

With 16/39 gearing I'd go 6 links longer than stock and take it from there.

Thanks Wheelie, that's a helpful reference! :)
