What size/part# is the 99-04 oil filter? Trying to find one on ebay and change my own oil for the first time.

Also does it make much difference buying a k&n oil filter?

O'rielly has Wix brand and Wal-mart has Fram. Either one is less than $10 Ithink. I don't like Fram's automobile filters but the one for the 400ex seems ok. I don't know the part number but you can look it up or get them to at the store.

I order 6 at a time through www.servicehonda.com. I ordered several this spring, 4.13 each for OE Honda filters.

They are an internal one like stock with paper type filter material. They also come with a new o-ring for the cover.
