I am going to be putting on an 07 swing arm on my 05 450R. What I need to know is if i will nee to replace the brake cable or if there is enough slack to use the stock one?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

You should be able to use the stock brake line, but I don't think you'll be able to use the clips that normally bolt to the swingarm. But length wise it should not be an issue.

Yea, you will have enough length but the mounts won't line up. You can cut those off, and get some hose clamp mounts at Lowes though.

Also, the 07 swinger won't work with the 04/05 linkage and shock. It will bolt up, but it won't work correctly.

is the swap really worth it for 3/4 of an inch?

I believe if you use the 06+ swingarm , you also have to use the linkage and rear shock. The 06 shock is longer than the 04.
And yes it is worth it the 04 -05 rear is terrible. I own a 04 450r and now running Lonestar outlaw swingarm and linkage. This is better than stock 06 by MILES>

I did the swap over last winter and ya the ride is much better, but i also installed a axis shock rebuilt by c&d and gtt link in the process. I just dont remember what dogbone link i installed:grr:

im going from a stock 05 rear end to a 07 swinger, lonestar dc-6 linkage and pep zps shock....we talked with wayne from pep and because we r on a budget he thought this was the best way to go...the lonestar linkage is much more massive than the 05..we havent gotten the 07 swinger yet so i dont know if the linkage is longer or anything..he sed it would make it so that we could use a long travel rear shock

I just did the swap and the mounts will work just a little tweek on the mount on the one closer to the break pedal

I am thinking about doing the 06+ swinger about houw much does the swingarm, shock, and a good linkage to make it long travel cost??

The shock will be totally rebuilt

Im planning on doing this swap as well, I picked up new take off 08 swinger off ebay for about 90 bux, the LSR DC-6 link is about 250, and depending on what shock you get I know a PEP zps is 1045, a fox is about 900-1000 ect

so your looking about about 1400 or so if you go aftermarket on your link and shock, still saving alot on an aftermarket swinger, im hoping this setup works good
