I'm looking for some gearing suggestions for our 90. We run on a 500ft packed dirt strip. The quad takes off like a bat out of hell, but runs out of gear by 1/2 track. It's only trapping at 28 mph.

It has a ported big-bore top-end w/ Hetrick pipe, 24mm PowerJet carb, no rev limiter, 18" snow hogs and STOCK gearing. Not sure what size the stock sprockets are as I'm not at home right now.

Will I need to dial the clutching back in after drastic gearing changes?

if i was to set up one of our bikes for a 500' drag, i would do the following;

big intake and reed cage with reed spacer
larger carb- 28mm
taller tires- maxxis rzr cross 18x6.5
gearing-20 front 28 rear
clutch- heavy enough rollers to completely run to top of variator

that should get you 50+ mph easy.

our 70's run 48 mph in 200'

if your shooting for 500' then taking off like a "bat out of hell" is not what your looking for.

We mostly trail ride, but I'd like to swap sprockets for the drags.
