how and what did you do to modify the exhaust to fit? i know that fabricating from scratch is always the answer but exact dimesions are always nice to save time and cost.

It looks like a modded cr pipe, Is that correct?? Did you have to dent the inside of the pipe for clearence on the rad hose?

I did not do the fab work. It was done by a guy in Simi Valley that is a master with this conversion. If you would like, I can give you his phone number, as he is happy to discuss the conversion....

I supplied the frame, pipe and motor to a local guy named Tom Evans, and for $1500, I received the entire package back, ready to go. I basically just had to build the bike, and I was done. Tom has been doing this conversion for about 10 years and knows his stuff!

It is a FMF Fatty Pipe. Just about any pipe that is a 2 piece style pipe like the FMF can be converted to work on the 500 motor. The piece that connects to the motor is totally new, but the rest of the pipe is unaltered.

Why didn't you go with the Cr 500 pipe? Seems the trx pipe would make less power?

I basically went with what the fabricator suggested. He said that the fatty is a great pipe for the 500 motor, and it requires very little alteration to work right. I want this bike to be as dependable as possible, and I also wanted to make the bike look as similar to a 250R as possible, so this was a great choice. The 89 motor looks similar to the 89 250R motor as far as color goes, so i cannot wait to take it to oldsmobile and smoke some 450's!

is that an h-42 pipe? if so it should work fairly well with that engine.

Yes, I believe it is. I also have a CT pipe built for a 350PV motor that I am going to try out.....
