is there any differences between the different aftermarket rev boxes or are they the same. I have seen the magnum brand for around 70???????

I don't think they are worth the money if your box is workin fine. They don't ad power, and they extend your ability to rev your engine to high, and way past your engines peak power, unless you have a pretty modded engine.

that is kind of my opinion. all of the charts i have seen show hp falling off at the higher rpm, but i wanted to see what everone else thinks. Thanks

These boxes are just a XR 250 CDI, you can get one from Service Honda for $75 here’s the part # 30410-KCE-671

I have on one my 400ex its WORTH the money even on a stock motor it will pull harder with the different ignition curve.

Dunerr if you ride in a lot of sand you will appreciate the higher rev limiter also

You are correct about the curve being advanced and making a stock bike run better. However the box you mentioned needs a given RPM to start the engine. With a stock engine and a good battery there is no problem. With a mod engine and cold weather, a lot of bikes do not turn over fast enough to start the engine. There are several companies that sell a box that does not have this problem. If you are going to run a big bore it is wise to make sure you get one of the better boxes.

I have had mine for over 2 years now and never had a starting problem. Even White Brothers has a disclaimer about a starting problem with a low battery. Every one has the same 1000 rpm more rev limiter is because they are just the XR 250 CDI. You can get the XR 250 CDI or just spend $50 more to have it in a box that says White Brothers or some other company on it. It’s just an easy part to repackage and make some money.

I have heard that it is the White brothers that gives you the most problems when you are cold starting. I have never owned one but i know some people that have and the all recomended the Sparks cdi box.

They are not all the same. There are several companies that sell one with no rev limiter and the box is a differant size as well.
