That looks brand new. Think it was a restore or really not started in 20 years. It would have to be in a vaccum sealed room to look that good.

The thing is who is gonna want to spend that kind of money on a quad you are not going to ride?

That thing is definitely a resto - I was told by the guy who did it that the frame is actually slightly bent.

That machine has been on ebay a number of times. I think at that price he's just trying to get his money back out of it.

The price isn't really all that bad if you figure what it would cost to find a mint 250R then buy all the new parts that are now discontinued to restore it.

It might cost upwards of 15 to 20K to do that now.

There was a box stock, mint, showroom condition 89 at a dealership in OR last year for $4500. I inquired and they told me it was sold was to be shipped to Puerto Rico. Said they took it in on trade, looked like it had never been ridden. They had no clue what they had there.

if it hasn't been started in twenty years:

-Every bearing is probably shot, every seal weather checked.
-Clutch might be stuck together
-Rings might be stuck to piston
-Brakes probably don't slide on pins, brake fluid absorbed water and possibly ruined brake components
-Cooling system?

Looks nice, but any motor sitting around for 20 years is worse than a motor that was run every year (assuming well taken care of)

Probably folks with the same mentality as the ones who build show cars just to trailer them to events.:o

Some people are perfectly satisfied to own something, and not use it. They're called collectors.

250Renvy is correct the price to build it from new parts is crazy. I have been buying parts for two years to build an 89' and have spent more then that. so when you ask who would spend that kind of money on something you are not going to ride I would my hand... I should have mine done by the end of the year.
