I am developing and building a trial ATV concept

I need your help with some information. I am an industrial design student and I am building a trials ATV for my graduate project. I am in the research phase of the project and I really need ATV riders to fill out this information. This is so I can analyze data from different areas of the country. If you would like to help out just fill out this survey and send it back to my personal email which is skorthuis2007@aol.com. I really appreciate anyone that fills it out and it only takes a couple minutes. So far I have had a couple people fill it out but I need a few more before I can have solid information. The strengths of this quad is going to be the ground clearance and how easy it is to get it unhigh centered if it ever happens. If anyone has any advice or anything like that I would love to listen. If you were to buy a new ATV what price would you expect to spend? $6000 or less.

What would be your ideal cc size? 450cc

Would you be more willing to buy a new ATV or Motorcycle?: New if given the right price.

Why?: Enjoy being the original owner.

How important are the head lights?: 5, but must be easily removable.

Do you know of any problems or limits with current ATV’s?: None. Some might say that they come corked up (ex. baffles, governors) but those are easily removed in a matter of minutes. These machines come race/trail ready.

While riding an ATV do you ever get high centered?: Not much anymore, unless the racer in front of me stops in a rock garden lol.

If so how long does it take to get the vehicle out? A minute at longest, depending how tired I am and if there are people helping me.

How do you get it out? Either pin it and rock the bike to try and get traction, have a course worker or other rider push, or put the bike in neutral and hop off and do it yourself.

I was thinking the same thing.
the op says the strengths are about ground clearance,and this is for a design concept project.

if that is true,... then what correlation is there to motorcycles, what you use it for, buy new/used, what you paid, what you would spend on a new quad, and headlights ?

To the best that my memory serves me, my headlights have never gotten high centered, and the fact that I bought it used, has never caused me to get stuck any more than someone who bought new.

These questions sound more like marketing research questions, as opposed to a design students questions.

(btw, my wife is the Boeing representative for the Senior Design Reviews, in the Aerospace Engineering dept, every year at Cal Poly Tech).
I'm fairly familiar with the types of questions that are asked, in reguards to Design Projects.

1. I like day riding anyways. And they're ugly. Unless they're easily removable cause night riding is fun sometimes.

Lift and move to the side. Or rock the bike to get traction while having it pinned down.
