What exactly will this do for your quad? Why don't you spend the $400 or so the coversion will cost you on something tangible, like a cam or exhaust, clutch, shocks, etc.

It never amazes me that there's STILL people out there more interested in looking "Cool" than going fast or handling better.

Nothing personal.

While I am the same way, I like performance first, that doesn't necessarily mean that this guy is all about the cool factor.

For some riders, the stock engine/suspension is good enough. You don't need crazy power if all you do is trail ride. And there are a lot of people, like me, that still run stock suspension without a problem. I have stock all around, and while I do bottom them out once in a blue moon, for the most part I have no problem with them. They ride super smooth in the trails and have a nice plush landing.

PLUS for all we know, this guy could already have a modded 400ex. It was his first post, none of us knows what he has done to it.

So there are a couple reasons:)

his old plastics could be trashed ( it is a used bike) and he needs new ones so if he wants newer style why not? You need to look for 05+, 99-04 is the same

The title of the thread was "Plastic swap from old to new" not "My plastic is all busted"

I said it wasn't personal. lol

Mostly all ya will need is to get the plastics and then check the fit and most likely have to weld on some new mounting brackets.

Well, there have been many times I wished I had the newer reverse equipped EX... and if I did, I would gladly trade the new style plastics and brackets for the original old style.

To me the next style looks like 450R knockoffs, but is growing on me, and the newest looks like a fighter jet...

I dig the 'baja' headlight look and like the shapes on the original plastics.

So... you 'might' find someone to trade with that has opposite taste.

i put old school front fenders on my 2005, i don't like the new style, all you need is two brakets for the new style that bolts on your frame, i have race cut ones with headlights, and brackets for 80 shipped in the states

i've done this to mine, you need a bunch of stuff, fenders mounts are actually the same....but you need some mounts for the light and you have to wire in the light. and for a hood, any 400ex or 450r hood will fit.
