I was changing my oil the other night and the darn long bolt that holds the oil filter cover on broke. Luckily I was able to get it out but now I need a new one. My local dealer said 3-5 days on a new one, but I was wondering if I could go up to a hardware store and ask for a 6mmX75mm bolt and be all set. Let me know if this will work.

Yes that'll work I have done that a few times myself.Be sure to take the other bolt with you so they can get the thread pitch right

yeah it will work. I would go to a fastener shop they have alot better selection and quality hardware.

the bolts pattern is 6mm x 1.0 thread pitch
and then whatever your length is
and it would be best if you got the same flanged type bolt if at all possible, otherwise a 6mm washer would do the trick.

This same thing happened to me yesterday. I guess I'm going to have to take the clutch cover off to get the rest out.

mine and a friend stripped out and mine stripped bc the guy i bought it off of had it sittin for a year or more and the threads just came out with the bolt so i tapped mine and put a size bigger bolt in.
