A friend of mine told me to use the 06 to 08 carb. I notice on here that most people were using 04 or 05 carbs. Whats the Difference? Another qestion that I had was I sold my pro armor nerf bars to a friend of mine to put on to his 06 450r and they fit perfectly, just had to notch a small spot out to clear the brake lite switch. I was wondering if the swing arm off of a 450r would fit a 400ex, I noticed they were longer by an inch or 2.

Go for it the Keihin carb is the only one that will work on the 400ex as its shorter if you try the FCR its a bit taller and will not fit with the gastank. Do the Keihin carb only.

FYI, they are both Keihin carbs.

The 06+ TRX450R/ER carb is a Keihin FCR. FCR's are generally considered one of the best carbs around. It's no accident that (before fuel injection) every manufacture chose that carb for their first tier machines.

The 04/05 TRX450R carb is a piston valve Keihin very much like the stock 400EX carb. It's just bigger.

FCR's cost a lot more and as Snipe mentioned, it may be harder to fit. If I was upgrading a 400EX of my own, I doubt I'd want the extra expense and hassle of the FCR. I understand the 04/05 450r carb is works pretty darn well on the 400EX so I doubt your giving up much by going that route.

When ya do a search on it that is the 2 names ya look for.

The 04 and 05 need some modding but not much just gotta move a vent hose and cap the hot plug. Would be worth the upgrade if your gonna do it to get one for your 450 an then use the older 450 on the 400 but would be cheaper just to get another one like you got for the 400. Can usually pick them up used for around $70 to $100 and the used FCR style go for $200 plus so its all what ya wanna spend.
