Yes header wrap does help with heat and does increase your motors performance at high temps, but it would not be anything noticable in your seat of the pants. It will however keep the motor very happy. But before you do that consider this: hpcoatings (http://hpcoatings.com/exhaust_coatings.htm)

I heard that heat wrapping will cause rust underneath.

No, it doesnt.

I believe that header wrap pic is from me a few months back.

I saw no performance gains. Nathan, nadda, zip. I wrapped the header in wrap for one reason, was to keep the heat from the header off the motor. It does an outstanding job.

So, if your looking for performance gains, look else where. If your looking for a trick to keep your mod'ed EX cooler, this is a really good mod.:D

Red is right. If you want performance gains, spend your $$ on something else, but if you already have mods( Big Bore) and have a problem with overheating, header wrap will keep your motor happy. Personally, I don't like it, i prefer hp coatings. ON a modded ex though, keeping the motor cool is a neccesity, especially if your doing any racing. In the long run, you won't lose horses due to overheating like most other four-strokes with overheating problems.

I think the coating will also look much better than a mummified header in tape
