i bought a custom axis rear shock 2 years ago off ebay. it was setup for my weight and mx riding. i use it on a xc bike so obviously its stiffer than i'd like. also being that its been used over 2 years it needs a full servicing. my question is which controls the riding style and which controls your weight. like do the springs control the weight and valving control the riding style? or is a combination of them both? just try to figure how much this going to cost me.

They kinda go hand in hand, but the spring mainly does your weight and the valving mainly controles your style.
