Is this an easy process like it sounds or should it be taken somewhere to have it done?
It is one of the exhaust/header bolt.

easy go to the auto parts store buy a m6x1.0 helicoil kit. drill out the hole to the directions on kit, install helicoil per directions, and your good as new again.

Just picked one up. Looks easy enough.

OK, now the coil that i am supposed to insert is only about half as long as the threaded bolt. Am I supposed to put 2 pieces in? Or do I need to find a coil that is the same size.

Disregard, have it figured out. New threads are better than the old ones.

you should condsider putting studs in the cylinder and you will eliminate the future thread stripping issues, aluminum threads are very weak.

You all should check out the time-sert system. I got one from team Kawasaki when my stud pulled out of the case. Very simple to do and makes the threads steel for more strength. They require alot less material to be removed when you drill out the new hole. Kawasaki said when they get brand new cases they install the time-sert. Just my two cents.
