400ex problems

i put in a new honda needle. clip 3 down from top. when i ride it i have no low end power i have to run the choke to be able to move in lower rpms. pilot screw 3 turns out 40 pilot jet. could the valves be to tight. need help thank you.

I would suggest putting the dyno jet one back in since it is not recommended to run the stock needle with the dj jets. they are a different shape do not fit the needle right. otherwise it sounds like you have something else wrong that is leaning it way out also, such as a leak or something. steve

forgot to mention that i am running keilin jets now.

then the jets and needle are ok, i would check for leaks and such. then check out your plug and see how it looks and go from there. did this just happen after jetting or did this do it by itself. maybe something inside the carb came loose and makes it not open properly. steve
