i have a 2000 300ex and am looking to put a different engine in it to get a lil more out of it and was wondering what a good engine would be to throw in there? i really would like to put a 250 2 stroke in it out of a dirt bike but was wanting to hear everyone elses thoughts first. and i have a suzuki gn 400 motorcycle engine i have i thought bout putting in it. it would require frame chopping and welding which aint a problem for me seeing how thats wat i do at qwork ten hours a day lol. pls lets hear some comments

WELL I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KEEP A HONDA ENGINE IN THE FRAME. NOT MUCH ON YAMAHA OR ANY OTHER BRAND LOL BUT THE CR250 WAS WAT I WAS THINKING. IF ANY1 HAS 1 FOR SALE LET ME KNOW.

My 300 is ready to blow any day so if you end up doing a swap take a bunch of pics and try to turn it into a "how to" so I can get some ideas. I was thinking of a sled motor like a 340 air cooled or something just to run the roads and dunes but I'm not sure how to figure out the clutches and chain drives.

haha i kno right the sled had a monster set up it was sick all for racing probably pushing 140 gorse with all my mods let my girl friends drive it and she totaled the fram:mad: so now its just sitting in my garage. with my racing clutch setup i dont think you could keep the grab bar off the ground if youj know what i mean

the 300ex isn't really a logical hybrid setup. the erginomics are all wrong and unless its just a toy to drive around the house it would be useless. the frame is heavy and weak and the suspension is annoying even after you put an aftermarket setup on it. but hey, its still fun to mss around with. If I was doing it right I would use a 250 2 stroke but if I was trying to make it stupid fast I would use something bigger like a 400 2 stroke can-am from the old days.
