hey guys im in love. lol. i spotted this truck on the way to work today. i stopped in and had a looksy.

here it is. i made the mistake of not asking what it was lol.

two problems, dont know how many miles, ac is not working, no compressor/pump.

heres my story;

i am quitting racing, i have started cleaning everything up. its going up for sale. i will prob get 6grand for everything. i have an 05 f 150 which i could prob get 7500 for. i plan on selling everything and turning this truck into my daily driver with some ballls, making this truck my new hobby. i could prob get the truck with everything working for 7.

also, i am tired of lugging around my friends, now theres enough room for my lady friend and myself.

i know:

Chevy
'72
has a 350
2 barrel carb
aftermarket power steering
aftermarket disk front brakes
aftermarket rims and tires
bench row front seat
has ac with no pump.
auto trans

i would like to add:

*same rear wheel, however wider and maybe a little taller.
*bags, not slammed. i would like it to sit how it is now when the bags are filled, and maybe 4 inches lower dropped. (switches installed in dash with factory looking switches, if i cant get factory switches, hiding them somewhere.)
*orange neon
*roll cage, look factory, painted orange, no hacking.
*sound system, maybe two tens under seat, 5x7's in the door, head unit in the glove box.
*freshen up the motor (if its not) and add some liquid HP.
*no window tint, i want ppl to see a 16 year old driving a sexy 72 that he paid for with his own cash:p

here are some pics (taken from cell)

looks like a 70-72ish Chevy C-10 (silverado) Wish the pics were bigger. But it will be a money pit. There's your warning.:blah:

its a 72 chevy

let me edit.

yes i know money pit lol!!

but i think it would be a more mature hobby, safer too lol.

gas mileage?

i am currently a mechanic ( have been for 3 years really )

this will be my daily driver so i need a reliable, powerful truck lol.

That's hot. My boss has a dream of converting the company fleet to some old school trucks like that, freshened up, and logo'd with the company stuff. I'd rock it.

Sell your truck, and buy it (or trade?). Then drive it as is for a while. Fix it up slowly as $$ allows. Check it over carefully, though, especially for rust, at least make sure it's solid and straight. Looks like it could be a decent deal though.

Money pit? definately.

gas mileage? crappy.

reliable? maybe, depends on what's done to it.

The old saying goes- Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Pick any 2.

this is not gonna be an overnight job lol.

i am only 16. i work full time on the summers and part time year round.

if i could get more than 13 mpg it would be worth it. doable?

edit: no trade in, the low ball hardddd

IMO hard tonneau cover with matching orange and a chop top. plus scratch the orange underglow idea. you wanna be retro or old school...not tuner

i don't know anything about 350's but i'd asume that the mpg is less then 10. my 79 ford with a 302 only gets like 8 mpg but my truck is pretty rough lol

the whole bag idea will lay the truck much lower than 4" and it will not sit that high on bags either. Just lower it. It can be done for around $400 for everything and then you dont have to worry about all the stuff and price that comes with bags

pointless for a roll cage to be put in, your not going to be going that fast and it will weigh a good bit then you will be losing mpg by having it in since the extra weight is hurting you.

I have been in your position before and I have learned from my mistakes. A lot of the stuff you want to do to it you will grow out of it and see it as wasted money. Just giving you advice before you throw that kind of money into it

'72 C10. They are really nice trucks. I own a '70 K10 myself with a '72 front end.

Best site you'll ever find for any questions you have-

tons of parts available for the 67-72 chevy's. if it's in good cond with no rust it won't be much of a money pit(unlike quads). sbc chevy motors are about as reliable as they come, and high teens are reachable with the right motor combo and rear gears(and light foot).

i think light foot should be changed to a throttle stop at 1/4 throttle :)

they are great trucks and a great power plant/drivetrain but old trucks arnt the greatest daily driver due to their milage. I mean i wouldnt sell the 05 to get this because at 16 you might not drive far to work but what about when your 20?

I had an 84 f150 that i resto-modded when i was 17 and it was beautiful but terrible daily driver, haha

just my .02

but anyways, there are a ton parts out their for those trucks and they are relatively cheap. So fixing it up wont be too bad. But i would never put a cage in it, your not going that fast and have fun getting in the truck :chinese:

well i looked over the truck today.

great looking interior/exterior. however there is rust on frame, arms, axle, basically the entire undercarriage.

i will keep my eyes open though.

Keep in mind you are in lust. ;)

Just look around at what else you could have.

I love these- (71 Bronco) http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1298330199.html

but you could have this (72 Blazer)http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1282196708.html

then there's also these- (62 & 63 F100)
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1256794913.html
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1269791337.html

65, this one I drive by everyday, looks sweet- http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1263769622.html

I love the C-10, just make sure it's what you want, then look at a bunch of them.

My personal fav- the old school Bronco.

first of all, you need to visit here. www.67-72chevytrucks.com

these are great trucks that are extremely easy to work on. This is where my chevy is headed, it currently is bagged, but sitting with no front clip and no bed, I need to tub the bed and figure out how to tuck the wheels and tires in the front without rubbing on anything.

If you drive very much, you're going to get tired of putting gas into it in a hurry. Remember,'72 is way before overdrives came out. My first car was a '79 T-Bird with a 351 that got 12MPG and that was a car.

your getting rid of an 05 f150 for a 72 for a daily driver? not a good move. that is a cool truck but not a daily driver

Agreed. Keep the 05 and get a truck like that for a weekend truck. Maybe find one in not as good of shape so that you can afford both trucks and work on the truck to make it yours.

i've got a 2004r overdrive tranny in mine, I get 21 on the highway and 16 in town. Easy swap, its the same length as the turbo350 so its a bolt in. You will have to get a tq converter lock out and a tv cable.

Drop spindle's. LMC Truck makes 3 different drop spindle kits. a 1/3; 2.5/4; and 4.5/5. First number is front drop last is rear drop.

People like you are the ones getting fooled into buying a new car because it's "more reliable". WRONG! It all depends on how you maintain them. My dad's '86 GMC Jimmy was just fine as his daily driver for 2 years... My '70 K10 has been a just fine daily driver for the time I've had it so far.

I'm telling you man, you can bag that truck almost as easily as you can drop it. IF its a trailing arm truck it will be even easier.

Oh ***** man, beautiful truck! I had a 1968 SWB 2wd with a 2" drop. I loved the hell out of that truck and kick myself for selling it every time I see a c10. Your truck is exactly the direction I wanted to go with mine too... Props though, that thing is sexy
