I broke my wrist while riding last sunday, my whole arms been in a splint since then just got back from the orthapedics and the doc said i have to go for surgery tomorrow to have 2 screws put in my wrist! I broke my distal radius which is the larger of the 2 forearms bones. Pretty much right where the bone meets the wrist. I guess its cracked right into the joint. Has anyone on here ever had this or something similar happen? im just wondering about the length of recovery and if the screws are going to hold up to hard riding?

Admit it ... it wasn't from riding ... you were just pumpin the old salami too hard.

Edit ... Good luck by the way with the surgery.

haha naww it was from riding i overshot a double at my friends track, landed flat bottomed and the back end of my quad went sideways and i tumbelled to the ground. I didnt even know it was broke till i tried flipping my quad back over. Hopefully ill be riding again by fall.

You can lie to us ... but tell the doctor the truth ...your salami spankin caused it.. he needs to know.

Don't push it riding wise . I always hate seeing threads where guys break things and say they'll be riding within weeks. Take the time to let things heal properly now and you'll save yourself a lot of hassle later on down the road.

Its' been a year and a half since my wrist surgery and I am only back to about 90%. Haven't regained all the strength I used to have and still have some residual pain. It is bearable though and I can still ride but I no longer do any big jumps.

well i made it through surgery alright, my wrist hurts a little but nothing a few painkillers wont take care of. The doc said i could be riding again in 6 weeks and that it will be as strong as ever. I thought they were putting 2 screws in my wrist but they ended up doing one big one. heres a pic

I had a displaced Scaphoid fracture and fractured the radius 22 months ago in a quad wreck--also broke a couple ribs and my nose.

I had wrist surgery, 1 screw, in Oct 07, I was in a splint or a cast until mid Jan 08.

It took about 9 months to regain about 75% of movement and strength. To date, it's about 90%. Most days it feel great, although it's has it days where it hurts like hell.

Hasn't had any negative effects on my riding.

ive done it to my wrist, i cracked it and sprained it. the doctor said no more riding.....
but with 4th of july coming and a pismo trip the next weekend, i taped up the ole wrist... first ride of the first day, hit a little 30-40ft dune, landed good, and broke it completly. haha. i had surgery, 8 screws, a plate and about 2 weeks of heeling time, and i was back out practicing. its a fast healing time. havent broke it since.

Hey we've got matching hardware. LOL

I've got newer hardware in my leg now. When they took out the old nail and screws ( in the pictures) , they replaced it with a larger diameter one and only locked it in place at the top.
