EXriders.com Project 400ex Base Quad Wanted

EXriders.com is going to build project a GNCC 400ex to represent the site! I am going to build it from the ground up, with all of my own funds, using all aftermarket parts. During this process I am going to devote an entire section of the site to it as well as write extensive reviews on all the aftermarket parts used - which will GREATLY benefit this site and you guys!! We are going to get it into a magazine if everything goes as plans as well.

Right now I am looking for a good, solid base 400ex for this project. It MUST have a good frame, no bends, cracks, or welds. The year is not important. Must run and be mechanically sound. I stress that I am looking for a base quad, not an expensive race quad. I want to spend around $2,500, the top amount I am willing to pay is $3,000 and that is for a very nice and clean 400ex.

Ben, Do you have an idea what you plan on upgrading yet?

If your getting an Arens frame, prolly some aftermarket a-arms, steering stem, handlebars, oversized oil tank, ext.

Have you considered, maybe just buying some key stock equipment, ex. Full motor, brake system, swingarm, oil cooler, ext.

And just building it like that? Possibly some Exriders could donate some parts. Like I have a stock swingarm I would give up for free.

hey ben
there a couple of brothers up in kentucky that do custom frame work.
their work is well know to the gncc cross country peaple.
the 400ex frame they gusset and put a long travel rear shock mount in and powder for 450.00.
honda of troy sends alot of brand new frames to them and sells them as ace frames.
these guys are the best ive seen and are real cheap.
when you get a chasis ,just a tip on someone who get it right for you.

....i personally think if your ganna do it right, you should buy a stock rolling chassis, and go from there.everything after that can be aftermarkett.....

only downfall would be not having all those stock extra parts to sell for new items.

Hey Ben, you might check out West Virginia Powder Coating, in Dunbar, WV. Tell Mike that Doug sent you up there and what you are doing, he will cut you a good deal and does great work. Hey ben, My friend is trying to sell his 2002 400ex, it is mint! less than 4 hours on it! All stock except new nerfs. Im going to try and get it for 3000? Would you be intrested in picking it up for 3000 if i buy it? id gladly sell it for the exriders cause!
