Is there any type of set up that allows a 400ex to be button shifted or somthing to change the way it is shifted and still be able to clutch

make a suicide shifter out of some tubing, Just take a tube, cut your shifter end off then weld the part that goes onto the shifter to the tube at a 90 degree angle and put the clutch lever and a grip on the shifter so you pull the lever in and push / pull it. i did that on my 300ex for fun, and it was.

here are some pics... your best bet would be to not ride if your leg is broken though lol.

I rode with a broken leg, it wasn't fun at all. I didn't have issues with the shifter, I had a rod put in, no cast. I don't recommend it. The first time I had to stand, to avoid going over the bars, HOLY COW did it hurt!!!!!!!!!!! Stay off the atv until you can walk.

ive done it too...i used to have a recon when i broke my leg so i just rode it. it was a auto clutch i couldnt get my cast under the shifter so i just shifted with my hand. very dangerous and any kinda bump or anything like that hurt like a bioch. best bet is to wait till your healed up or you could very well cause complications with your break

When I was a kid, I had a broken left leg, My buddy had a broken right hand. We decided it would be a good idea to ride still. He shifted and controlled the clutch, I controlled the throttle............... It was cool for a minute, then we tried to climb this hill. He popped the clutch and it caused me to get a hand full of throttle. Needless to say, the front end did not stay down with all of the weight on the back of the bike. We still get $#!^ from his dad for wrecking his bike.

You could buy a Pingel Air shifter, they work pretty good.

look in hunting catalogs under atv assesories you can get a stick that mount to the shifter so you can shift with your hand
