Alright, I have a stock frame 88 R. I am in need of some peg nerfbars to replace my old Graydons. I ran across a set of AC pro-pegs that a friend has. They are for a pro-peg mounted frame Leager that he used to have. He will sell them to me for a pretty good price. My question is how much work will I need to do to make these fit my stock frame? Is it as simple as welding a tube in front of the motor mounts and some tubing where the stock pegs mount or is there more to it? Would I be better off trying to find a set of nerfs to fit the stock frame? Any help and possibly pics of what I would need to do would be appreciated!

I'm not sure about the pro-pegs working for ya, but, I have a used set of nerfs that I would make you a great deal on. They are in good shape and I just polished them up.

Im sure it could be done. I ditched the bolt on peg mounts from my ac nerfs, cut the ends off and welded them in place on an 87 frame. The front of the nerfs have there own cross section and also bolt to the front motor mounts.

Any other input, would it be worth buying these and making them work, or should I just buy some bolt on pro-peg nerfs?

they can be made to work i would think. i dont know if they are the same as those that i have but, the ac's that are on my '86 are mointed "pro peg" style and have what i would call wide pegs. i can post pictures later if need be.

I am sure you could make them work if you really wanted to. A buddy of mine down the street took some for a 250R and he made his own bolt on mounts, kind of like the ones in the ebay listing above, and it turned really sweet. Looks great.

So I am sure if you could not find a bolt on mount, you could make something work if you wanted.

they should deffinately be made to work. here is a pic of the way the pegs are that i have. as you can see they bolt in the same place and the lower bolt is position in the center of the peg itself.

Doesn't AC have pro peg adapters for 88/89 stock frames? I have seen them on ebay before (used), and all they are is a piece of square steel stock; one end turned to the I.D. of the alum. tubing with bolt holes thru, and a clevis slot milled in/cross hole drilled thru the remaining square portion to bolt more securely thru the footpeg tabs.

Once I get a 4 jaw chuck for my lathe and a disc mill for my mill, I'd like to whip out a small mess of these out of some 4140 and throw 'em out for sale.

Did you make them or buy them?

Can pro-peg type nerfs also be adapted to fit an 86-87 frame? I really wanna put a set of black pro-peg style nerfs on my 86.

I think my question was a little misunderstood. AC does make "pro-peg" nerfs that bolt on to the R using adapters similar to those posted. I was talking about the real pro peg nerfs, that are used on say Laegers, Roll, and Lonestar aftermarket chassis, that already have tubes welded on the frames. I didn't know if these tubes on the aftermarket frames were positioned in a place where it would be difficult to weld a tube on the stock frame, or if the peg placement would be way off. My chassis is a 88, so I would like the pegs to be back and down about an inch each, basically right where the stock peg mount is located.
